NLC protest: Police warn hoodlums against hijacking protest
Heavily armed security operatives have been deployed in strategic places across Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, ahead of the planned nationwide labour protest.
Areas where police operatives are deployed include the Ministry of Works roundabout, palace way, roadblock, FGCC road, to mention but just a few.
When reached for comments, the spokesperson of the Taraba State Police Command, Abdullahi Usman, said the action is geared at preventing hoodlums from hijacking the proposed protest.
He said the state Commissioner of Police had already held a dialogue with all the labour leaders.
He added that the commissioner urged the labour leaders “not to allow hoodlums to come into their midst during the protest”.
Usman said the commissioner also warned that the unions hold the protest in their office premises, adding that they have been warned to avoid certain roads in Jalingo.
As of the time of filing this report, the protest was yet to commence in the state.
