NIS visits Lagos Surveyor General’s office over fire incident

The President of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Surv. Dr Kayode Oluwamotemi, fnis and his team paid a commiseration visit to the Office of the Lagos State Surveyor General over the fire incident.

Nigerian NewsDirect reports this in a statement by Surv.Yusuf Aro-Lambo, the Publicity Secretary of NIS.

Recall that fire gut the state surveyor general’s office in Alausa, destroying essential documents on Saturday, May 6 2023.

Surv. While receiving the NIS team on Tuesday, Ayokunnu Adesina, the acting Surveyor General of Lagos state, described the visit as phenomenal.

Meanwhile, Oluwamotemi, in his remarks, applauded the efforts so far made to ease the effect of the inferno.

He advised the need to guard against a repeat, noting that vital data should be kept in a disaster-proof environment.

The Ag. SG, in his response, said: “Thanks to the quick intervention of the Lagos State Fire Service men, the effect of the damage was limited to the part of the structure and furniture and the charting room, but all records are kept safe in the Cloud which was last done on Friday, May 5”.

He added that the Agency of Lagos State Government is already carrying out the integrity test on the building, giving room for expansion and installation of fire fighting equipment.
