NIN Registration: Beware of fraudsters parading as consultants, NIMC warns Nigerians

The National Identity  Management  Commission(NIMC), has issued a disclaimer to the general public that it has not licensed any consultants to facilitate licensing for the National Identification Number Enrolment project.

This diclosure was made to Nigerian Newsdirect Newspaper in a statement signed by the Director-General of NIMC, Engr. Aliyu  Aziz on Monday.

NIMC made it clear that NIN is free and at no cost to the general public.

It added that the Commission is finalizing plans to ease the registration  process for NIN applicants through the establishment and activation of Enrolment  and Registration Centres(ERCs) nationwide.

The statement reads,

“Attention of Management  if National Identity  Management Commission(NIMC) has been drawn to the activities of certain unscrupulous  persons parading themselves as agents and consultants of the NIMC and claims to having the capacity to operate and facilitates the engagement of conpanies agents under the ongoing National Identification  Number Enrolment  project.

“These unscrupulous persons are enganing innocent members of the public and businesses with the objective of extorting Money and purportedly promising to facilitate  a sub-licensing arragement between enrolment agents approved  by the NIMC under said Enrolment project a d other persons seeking to participate  in the project.

“The NIMC has not engaged any person, company or organisation to act as it is consutant or agent under any guise or in any manner whatsoever, for the purpose of facilitating any ourported collaboration for the implementation of the ongoing  NIN enrolment project.

“The NIMC has not permitted the sale, transfer, outsourcing or sublicensing of the Enrolment license granted to the companies published in Newspapers and on its website; the NIMC has not authorised the sale enrolement forms, forms are free.

“The NIMC is currently in the process of finalizing the setup and activation of Enrolment and Registration  centres(ERCs) of the approved agents nationwide which will bring enrolment activities to the doorsteps of Nigerians with ease within the coming days”.
