NIMC warns against extortion, to ensure smooth NIN-SIM linkage ahead of deadline

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has warned Nigerians against extortion during the National Identification Number (NIN) and Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) linkage as the deadline approaches.
This is even as the agency reassured Nigerians and legal residents of the smooth operation of its services.
In a statement made available to journalists, the Commission emphasised that all its systems, including enrolment, verification, and data modification processes, are functioning seamlessly to meet the anticipated demand.
NIMC has highlighted the accessibility of its services, with over 10,000 enrolment centres across the country and in the diaspora open for NIN enrolment.
Additionally, a self-service portal (self-servicemodification.nimc.gov.ng) has been made available for those needing to modify their NIN data, offering a more convenient option ahead of the deadline.
However, NIMC issued a strong warning against extortion, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any unethical practices.
While NIN enrolment is entirely free, the Commission acknowledged reports of attempts by unscrupulous individuals to exploit applicants.
NIMC reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for such actions and provided contact details for reporting misconduct ([email protected] and 07002255646).
With the deadline just days away, NIMC reaffirmed its commitment to providing efficient, transparent, and world-class identity management services, ensuring that the NIN-SIM linkage process remains hassle-free for all citizens.
