The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has recently been honoured with the SERVICOM Award for exceptional service delivery.
This prestigious recognition underscores NIMASA’s ongoing commitment to elevating service standards, enhancing transparency, and ensuring operational efficiency.
In a statement provided to NewsDirect by the Head of Public Relations at NIMASA, Osagie Edward, FNIPR, it was noted that the SERVICOM Award is typically presented to government agencies that demonstrate outstanding public service.
The award highlights NIMASA’s significant achievements in delivering high-quality services to the maritime industry, including the facilitation of maritime safety, regulation, and the promotion of Nigeria’s maritime sector.
The Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, who was represented by the Head of the Agency’s SERVICOM Unit, Hajia Rakiya Lamai, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Presidency through the SERVICOM Office for recognising the Agency’s efforts.
Dr. Mobereola assured that NIMASA would not rest on its laurels but would intensify its efforts.
“We are spurred by this award, and we will continue to embrace best practices in the delivery of our services,” the DG’s representative remarked.
“Let me also take this opportunity to thank our tireless staff, who have consistently adhered to the core values of the Agency while internalising its vision and mission. We will continue to work together to maintain this momentum,” she added.
The National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of SERVICOM, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli, also commended NIMASA for its steadfast commitment to improving service delivery.
In a letter, Mrs. Akajemeli said, “We are indeed encouraged by your inspiring efforts to ensure that Nigerians receive quality and timely services from the Nigerian State. We will continue to rely on your support and cooperation as a key stakeholder in providing satisfactory services to all citizens, thereby realising the essence of good governance.”
The award was presented during the annual end-of-year awards/meeting of the National Council of Nodal Officers with the SERVICOM Office, which was held in Abuja.
NIMASA, established by the NIMASA Act of 2007, is the regulatory authority for Nigeria’s maritime industry. Its key responsibilities include ensuring maritime safety, protecting the marine environment from pollution, enforcing compliance with maritime laws, promoting local shipping, and supporting the training of maritime professionals, among other duties.
