Nigeria’s Nosa Omorodion, first African to be honoured with AAPG Michael T. Halbouty award.

Dr. Nosa Omorodion FNAPE will be receiving the 2023 AAPG Michael T. Halbouty Outstanding Leadership Award.

AAPG’s two highest awards are regarded as equal in stature and prestige. The Sidney Powers Memorial Award given for outstanding contributions to petroleum geology and the Michel T. Halbouty Outstanding Leadership Award given in recognition of outstanding and exceptional leadership in the petroleum geosciences.

Nosa is the first African and one of the very few outside the US to be so honored. In addition to the Michael T. Halbouty Outstanding Leadership Award Nosa will also be receiving the AAPG Honorary Member Award.
