The sprawling city of Benin in Edo State was agog on Saturday when the family of Odigie, gave out their daughter, Eunice’s hand in marriage to Opeyemi Ajakore of Nigerian NewsDirect newspaper.
The two lovebirds, Eunice and Opeyemi who are staff of the NewsDirect newspaper tied the nuptial knot at a solemnization of Holy Matrimony held at Christ’s Chosen Church of God Intl, College road, off Ekenwan road, opposite St Francis Catholic Church in Benin, the Edo state capital.
In his short exhortation, Pastor Norbeth Egwunye, who charged the couple to let God take charge of their home said marriage, as the Holy Scriptures teaches is indeed an honourable estate and is therefore not to be entered into unadvised or lightly, but soberly and in fear of God for two shall become one flesh.
According to him, marriage was ordained by God for the procreation of children to be brought up in the fear and nature of the Lord and to the praise of His Holy name.
Egwunye, therefore, charged them not to allow anyone to come and destroy their home.
At the reception, the Edo state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, who chaired the occasion said marriage is a secret institution whose problems the couple should not tell to parents, friends about their problem.
According to him, “As a man you don’t use your power all the time” saying the day wife deny her husband the sex is the day she sent him out.
The event had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life, including the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the Nigerian NewsDirect newspaper, Prince (Dr) Samuel Ibiyemi, News Editor, Mr. Ayo Fadimu, Edo state NUJ members among others.
