Nigerian caught with cocaine capsules in stomach at Pakistan airport
A Nigerian national is facing drug smuggling charges following an operation by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) at Lahore International Airport, which uncovered concealed cocaine capsules. The individual, who arrived in Pakistan from Nigeria with a layover in Dubai, was discovered to have 38 capsules filled with cocaine hidden inside his stomach, according to The Express Tribune.
ANF officials reported that a total of 608 grams of cocaine was recovered from the capsules. This incident highlights a troubling and growing trend in international drug smuggling, with a notable involvement of foreign nationals. Nigerian individuals, in particular, have been frequently implicated, with 10 Nigerians arrested in 2023 alone, leading to the seizure of an impressive 4.811 kilograms of narcotics.
The current year has seen law enforcement agencies conduct seven intensive operations against drug trafficking. These efforts have resulted in the arrest of eight Nigerian nationals and the seizure of 11.420 kilograms of illegal substances, underscoring the pressing need for improved international collaboration in combating drug smuggling.
