Nigeria@61: Gov Ikpeazu rallies Abians to prayers, fasting

Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has called on Abians to attend a prayer and fasting session holding on Nigeria’s Independence Day, October 1, 2021, at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia.

The Governor made this known in a statement signed by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, and made available to newsmen.

Ikpeazu, who described Abia as truly God’s Own State, said the people have numerous reasons to thank God for the state as Nigeria, which has remained standing despite her numerous challenges, marks her 61st anniversary.

The Governor, who said no leader could achieve God’s purpose for the people without prayers, referred to the book of 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”, to buttress his point.

He, therefore, requested Abians to join him and members of the clergy in the state in a special prayer and fasting session scheduled to hold on Friday, 1st October 2021, at the Dr Michael Okpara Auditorium Government House, Umuahia, from 6 am to 12 noon.

“Come, let us pray for the repose of the souls of innocent Abians that have lost their lives and avert further violence on Abia soil. Let us pray for God to forgive our sins, heal our land and shower prosperity and security over our land.

“Ndi Abia, prayer attracts God, moves the angels of God to intervene on behalf of His people, attacks enemies of the people, unlocks us and transforms the people”, Governor Okpeazu concluded.

According to the statement, invited guests are to be seated before the arrival of the Governor, while those at home can join the prayer session by tuning into BCA Radio and other platforms in the state.
