Nigeria vs Ghana: Why I’m not worried – Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Eguavoen

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Augustine Eguavoen, has given a reason why he is not worried about the Super Eagles’ 2022 FIFA World Cup play-off against the Black Stars of Ghana.

Eguavoen said he is not worried because the Super Eagles have a squad that knows that their clash with Ghana is a mountain they have to climb.

He said this while speaking during a virtual meeting with Youth and Sports Minister Sunday Dare, chieftains of the Nigeria Football Federation, Super Eagles players and Coach Emmanuel Amuneke, on Tuesday night.

Nigeria and the Black Stars of Ghana will face off in a two-legged 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier in March.

The West African giants were eliminated from the just-concluded 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.

Eguavoen said: “It’s always an honour to serve the country. I was impressed with the high level of discipline and commitment of the players at the AFCON in Cameroon, and I feel privileged to lead the group.

“We have two tough games against Ghana next month but I’m not too worried because we have a squad that knows it is a mountain that we have to climb.

“We have a good headache to deal with – which is a surplus of good players. I want to thank the Government and the NFF for all the support during the AFCON; we’ll need even greater support for the World Cup play-off.”
