The Nigeria Startup Bill has passed the third reading at the  House of Representatives.

This comes a week after the bill was passed by the Senate and passed to the lower legislative house.

With the passing of the third reading at the House of Reps, the bill has now scaled all legislative hurdles and all that remains for its implementation and passage into law is the assent of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Nigeria Startup Bill is a joint initiative by Nigeria’s tech startup ecosystem and the Presidency to harness the potential of the digital economy through co-created regulations.

According to information available on the website of the bill (https://startupbill.ng/),

The bill will ensure that Nigeria’s laws and regulations are clear, planned and work for the tech ecosystem.

It is believed that if passed into law, it will contribute to the creation of an enabling environment for growth, attraction and protection of investment in tech startups in the country.
