Nigeria on the right track to end insecurity – Badaru

Alhaji Mohammed Badaru, Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, on Friday asserted that President Bola Tinubu’s shared dedication to resolving insecurity in the nation is progressing positively.

Speaking in Sokoto while addressing troops of the Nigerian Army’s 8-Division, Badaru emphasised the president’s directive to the cabinet to prioritize national security.

He said, “Considering the team assembled, we have a highly cooperative and effective collaboration among the Chief Security Advisor, Service Chiefs, and other security agencies.

“The level of cooperation has been unprecedented, resulting in significant progress in addressing security challenges,” Badaru remarked.”

Badaru assured the troops that with the requisite equipment, determination, courage, and collaboration, the prevailing security challenges would soon be overcome.

He expressed gratitude to the troops for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation, while assuring them of the government’s dedication to ensuring their welfare and that of their families.

Earlier, during a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the minister highlighted the government’s engagement efforts to bolster the troops’ effectiveness in tackling security challenges.

“Your Eminence, we seek your blessings and guidance to advance our commitment to addressing security challenges, particularly in the North West,” he added.

The sultan commended the government and security agencies for their persistent efforts in addressing security challenges, urging for sustained commitment.

“While there are security challenges in Nigeria, we are witnessing substantial progress and dedication towards resolving them.

“Our gallant security forces deserve our encouragement and support,” the Sultan affirmed.

Abubakar praised the appointment of Badaru to head the Defence Ministry, describing it as ‘fitting and well-deserved’.

During a courtesy visit to Gov. Ahmed Aliyu, the minister expressed appreciation for the Sokoto State Government’s support to the security agencies in the state.

In response, Aliyu, represented by his Deputy Alhaji Idris Gobir, reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring comprehensive security.

He emphasised that security was paramount in the nine-point agenda of his administration, pledging full government’s support to succeed in the endeavor.
