Nigeria, Egypt sign MoU to deepen defence industry cooperation

Nigeria and Egypt have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deepen defence industry cooperation.

The sighing ceremony was held at the Ministry of Defence, on Wednesday in Abuja.

The event took place after a brief visit by the Egyptian delegation to the office of the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr Ibrahim Kana signed for Nigeria while the Assistant Minister of Defence of Egypt, Maj.-Gen. Walid Hamouda signed for Egypt.

Kana in his remarks shortly before the signing of the MoU, said it was aimed at promoting deeper bilateral and defence cooperation in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations of the two countries.

He expressed optimism that the long history of the robust relationship between both countries would create lasting cooperation,.

He said that Nigeria had benefited a lot from Egypt in areas of intelligence sharing and training.

Earlier Hamouda, expressed appreciation for the platform provided to sign the MoU.

He assured Nigeria of Egypt’s total commitment to abide by the articles contained in the signed document.

He also appreciated the existing cordial relationship between Egypt and Nigeria.
