Nigeria can only progress when there is peace – Oyo Senator, Alli

A member of the National Assembly, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has said Nigeria can only progress in the atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

Alli who represents Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) made the assertion while congratulating the Muslim Umma on seeing another Islamic year, on Wednesday.

Alli, in his 1445 Hijrah message encouraged Nigerians not to allow themselves to be used to pull down the country, insisting that the country can only progress in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.

The Maye-Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland while felicitating with Muslims on the occasion of the new Islamic year, enjoined them to use the privilege of witnessing another year to renew their faith.

Alli advised the citizens to understand that Nigeria can only achieve progress and move to greater heights in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.

He said, “We must learn to be our brothers’ keepers. We must understand that Nigeria can only achieve progress and move to greater heights in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.

“Without being obedient, righteous discipline, faithful and submissive to the will of Allah as enshrined in the Qu’ran and Sunnah, the essence of Hijrah is compromised and defeated.

“We must all contribute to the building of a just and peaceful society. We all have to exhibit a great commitment to the building of an egalitarian society.

“As we begin Hijrah 1445AH, there is a need for us all to imbibe the spirit of peaceful co-existence among ourselves, irrespective of our individual religious affiliations”.
