Niger Tornadoes FC ready for 2020/2021 NNL season, official says
Niger Tornadoes Football Club of Minna are ready for the 2020/2021 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, the team’s Technical Adviser, Abubakar Mohammed, said on Wednesday.
“We have had one of the best pre-season programmes, thanks to the state government and the club management for the full support they gave the team during the period of recruitment and pre-season preparations.
“This is our fourth month since resumption from the COVID-19 break.
“We have since participated in series of friendly matches and pre-season tournaments in both Katsina and Ilorin, and all were aimed at making sure the team was fully ready in terms of physical, mental and tactical awareness.
“Therefore, we are ready for the 2020/2021 NNL season,” Mohammed said during the team’s training session in Minna.
Mohammed also said the team had needed to replace some key players who departed for greener pastures.
According to him, the essence of the friendly matches was to determine how the newly-recruited players could blend with the old ones and play according to the team’s style.
He however said the club was currently in the last lap of the preparations, with a couple of matches lined up for play before the commencement of the league season.
The Technical Adviser assured that with the support of fans, Niger Tornadoes would clinch the sole promotion ticket from the league’s Northern Conference Group A2.
Reports state that the Niger Tornadoes team has since returned to the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna for their trainings ahead of the new season.
They will play their season-opening game against the Real Stars of Kaduna on Jan. 30.
