The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State, Alhaji Aminu Musa Bobi, has issued a warning to party members, stating that anyone found involved in illicit dealings related to the state’s ward development projects will face severe consequences.
He also cautioned committee members against taking out bank loans to fund these projects.
Bobi issued the warning during a recent tour by the APC Ward Development Projects Committee, which is visiting all 274 wards in the state.
The committee members have been instructed to carry out projects strictly in line with their monthly allocations and are prohibited from seeking external loans for project funding.
The Chairman of the Ward Development Projects Committee, Phallalu Bako Mohammed, also addressed the gathering during a sensitization tour at the palaces of the Etsu Nupe, Emir of Borgu, and Emir of Kagara Emirates over the weekend.
He echoed Bobi’s stance, warning that the government would impose sanctions on any ward committee that attempts to augment its allocation through bank loans.
He said:”It is crucial that all hands be on deck to ensure that the ward development projects meet the required specifications, We urge traditional rulers and stakeholders to collaborate with the ward committees to ensure the funds are used judiciously.”
During the visit, the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, and the Emir of Borgu, Barrister Muhammad Sani Haliru Dantoro, both pledged their full support for the project.
Speaking at the Wadata Palace, Etsu Nupe promised to work closely with the ward development committees to achieve the desired objectives.
At the Emir’s Palace in Kagara, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmed Gunna expressed optimism that the ward development projects would bring essential development closer to the people. He also urged his subjects to actively participate in the initiative to ensure its sustainability.
The traditional rulers commended Governor Umaru Bago’s initiative, praising it as a landmark achievement. They assured the governor of their continued support in ensuring the success of the project.
Reaffirming the importance of the ward development projects, APC Chairman Alhaji Bobi reiterated that the initiative aims to enhance the social and economic activities of the electorate. He emphasized that party members must support Governor Umaru Bago’s policies to improve the living conditions of the citizens.
“Ward development projects are designed to support the social and economic activities of the electorate. There is a need for party members to support the policies of Governor Umaru Bago aimed at adding value to the lives of our people,” Bobi reiterated.
