NGX reports decline by 0.19 per cent

The stock market on the Nigerian exchange Limited (NGX), closed trading yesterday on negative note amidst sell-offs and buy-interests as the benchmark All Share Index depreciated by huge 87.81 basis points.

Similarly, the NGX ASI largely decreased by 87.81 absolute Points or 0.19 per cent to close at 47340.86 index points from 47428.67 index points it opened for last trading.

According to the data released by NGX market capitalisation dropped by 47 billion to close by 25.514 trillion for trading.

Since this year began stock market has advanced 4,446.88 base points.

The market sentiments as measured by breadth closed on negative as VERITASKAP led 15 gainers and CORNEST led 22 decliners.

On the activity chart, market activity as measured by both volume and value of trade declined in the trading session which daily traded standing at 183,255,994 millions units to represent decrease of 86 per cent from 2.475 billion units traded in the previous session and exchange in 3,779 deals.

On the table chart,VERISTASKAP came as the highest price gainer which gained 0.01 kobo to represent 4.76 per cent increase to close at N0.22 per share.

CHAMS followed and rose by 4.55 per cent or 0.01 kobo increase to close at N0.23 per share, while ETERNA appreciated by 0.21 kobo representing 4.17 per cent increase to close at N5.25 per share, UNILEVER PLC recorded as the fourth price gainer which gained 3.85 per cent or 0.50 kobo increase to close at N13.59 per share and last fifth gainer is ROYALEX EXCHANGE ASSURANCE which went up by 3.67 per cent or 0.04 kobo increase to close at N1.13 per share.

While, on the losers table, CORNEST recorded as the best loser which dropped by 8.82 per cent or 0.06 kobo to close at N0.62 per share followed by MULTIVERSE which declined by 0.02 kobo representing 8.33 per cent to close at N0.22 per share, SCOA dipped by 7.69 per cent or 0.20 kobo to close at N 2.40 per share,PRESTIGE depreciated by 6.12 per cent or 0.03 kobo to close at N0.46 per share and JAPAULGOLD recorded as the last fifth losers which went down by 5.71 per cent or 0.02 kobo to close at N0.33 per share.

On the activity chart, UNITED BANK OF AFRICA led the table chart which transacted 23.412 million shares valued at 200.202 million followed by ACCESS BANK which traded 10.434 million share worth 108.914 million, FIRST BANK traded 10.167 million shares worth 117.630 million, UACN transacted 9.688 million shares valued worth 104.443 million and lastly, ZENITH BANK traded 96.410 million shares valued at 259.636 million.
