NGX-ASI declines by 0.34%

The NGX All-Share Index (ASI) declined by 0.34 percent on Wednesday.

With yesterday’s market results, the NGXASI now stands at 43.94 percent.

This follows the previous day’s loss of 0.36 percent, which closed at 74,023.27 basis points.

The NGX Market CAP also recorded a loss of N139.34 billion in Naira terms.

The major contributor to the day’s bearish performance was Dangote Cement’s 2.19 percent share price loss.

There was a slight increase in trading volume to 432.91 million units compared to 423.30 million units on December 22.

In terms of value, there was a decline in traded value to N12.94 billion, compared to last Friday’s N16.59 billion.

The total volume traded advanced by 2.27 percent to close at N432.91 million, valued at N12.94 billion and traded in 8,901 deals. JAIZBANK was the most traded stock by volume with N35.38 million, while GEREGU was the most traded stock by value with N6.06 billion units traded.

Others in terms of volume, TRANSCORP (+1.14 percent) with 31.09 million units, UNITYBNK (+2.50 percent) with 25.12 million units, GTCO (+0.50 percent) with 20.47 million units, and UCAP (+3.91 percent) with 18.77 million units.

In terms of value, GEREGU (0.00 percent) led with N6.06 billion, followed by GTCO (+0.50 percent) with N819.27 million, AIRTELAFRI (0.00 percent) with N798.13 million, ZENITHBANK (+0.26 percent) with N587.15 million, and UCAP (+3.91 percent) with N466.51 million.

The Gote Index declined by 2.04 percent to close at 179.42, while the Toni index advanced by 0.32 percent to close at 480.42 basis points.

At the close of trading, the market recorded 38 gainers, 21 losers, and 61 unchanged. ETERNA topped the gainers list, while UACN topped the list of losers.

Thus, market breadth closed positively as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is 0.28x.
