NGO donates COVID-19 testing facility to Ekiti State

Ekiti State Government has taken delivery of a COVID- 19 facility donated by a Non- Governmental Organization, (NGO), Global Life Bank, to facilitate COVID-19 tests on state health workers at the Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe General Hospital, Ado- Ekiti.

Taking delivery of the facility, Dr Oyebanji Filani, the Ekiti commissioner for health, expressed the government’s appreciation to the NGO and private individuals, who had contributed towards curtailing the spread of virus in the state.

Filani noted that the gesture by the NGO would ensure that the health workers, who are at the risk of contracting the virus, know their COVID-19 status, and take necessary measures to safeguard their safety as front liners tackling the pandemic.

“This is a unique collaboration between Ekiti state government and Life bank, and this further demonstrates the commitment of the government of Dr Kayode Fayemi to public- private partnership to develop the state”, he said

Earlier, in her remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Global Life Bank, Mrs. Temie Giwa-Tubosun, stated that the gesture was part of efforts at curtailing the spread of the pandemic in the state, pointing out that the facility had the capacity of testing at least 1,500 health workers in the state.

“The facility donated to the Ekiti state government today is expected to test at least 1500 health workers. It also came with Personal Protective Equipment for use by the health workers, who are at the highest risk of the global pandemic”. She stated.
