The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Osun State Compliance Team, has arrested manager and other officials of FCMB in Osun sabotaging Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) directive on new Naira notes withdrawal. The FCMB officials were allegedly arrested for frustrating effort if the CBN in ensuring that the new Naira notes are easily accessed by Nigerians.

The Team disclosed that the bank officials loaded the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) with the wrappers of the cash intact, thereby making the withdrawal of the redesigned notes difficult from the ATMs.

“ICPC Compliance Team in Osogbo has busted an FCMB in Osogbo, Osun State where some ATMs were loaded with cash with their wrappers unremoved, thus preventing the cash from being dispensed.

“The Team therefore directed that the wrappers be removed, and the cash loaded properly,” ICPC statement said.

The ICPC Compliance Team also disclosed that the Operation Bank Manager has also been arrested and taken in for questioning.

“However, when a follow-up visit was undertaken the following day to ascertain the level of compliance, the Team discovered that one of the ATMs was still loaded with the wrappers unremoved.
