New ECOWAS headquartres hub for collective endeavors – Official

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, says construction of the ECOWAS community institutions’ headquarters will not only stand as symbol of unity but serve as hub for collective endeavors.

Tuggar disclosed this at the meeting of Ad-hoc Ministerial Committee on construction of the headquarters of the community institutions by the Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group Ltd., under aegis of China government, in Abuja.

The meeting was held on the sideline of activities of the 92nd Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers.

Tuggar said, “This building will not only stand as a symbol of our unity but also serve as a hub for our collective endeavours.

“The decision of Heads of State and Government regarding construction of Headquarters of Community Institutions brought about the establishment of this ad- hoc ministerial committee.

“Our mandate is clear: to oversee and monitor construction activities of this headquarters project, ensuring it reflects the aspirations of our region and its people.

“The new ECOWAS headquarters known as: “The Eye of West Africa,” is poised to become a beacon of hope, embodying our shared values and heritage.

“This structure symbolises a promising future for our people, a base from which we will continue to make important strides in regional integration, economic growth and security.”

He revealed the experts of the committee convened on July 2, and would present their findings for review and further deliberation.

He reiterated that it was part of the committee’s mandate to embark on comprehensive tour of the building facilities and to assess progress achieved so far.

“I urge each of you to meticulously scrutinise every aspect of the project and draw upon your expertise to provide insightful feedback.

“Let us ensure that this iconic structure fulfills our collective needs and expectations,” Tuggar added.

He expressed gratitude to the Chinese government, ECOWAS Commission, Technical Coordination Committee, the Consultants and other relevant stakeholders that contributed to make the project a reality.
