New AIG in charge of Lagos, Ogun assumes duty
The new Assistant Inspector- General of Police (AIG) deployed to Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, Mr Adegoke Fayoade, has assumed duty.
SP Umma Ayuba, the Zonal Public Relations Officer (ZPRO), said this in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos.
Ayuba said that Fayoade assumed office on Tuesday as the 32nd Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Zone.
Zone 2 covers Lagos State and Ogun.
“He took over duty from AIG Olatoye Durosinmi who retired on Aug. 19, 2024.
“Fayoade hails from Ila-Orangun in Ila Local Government Area of Osun,” Ayuba said
She said that the new AIG was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on May 18, 1992 and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Lagos.
“He has a Diploma in Political Science, LLB (Hons) from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and a Masters Degree in Public Administration also from the University of Lagos,” the ZPRO said.
According to her, Fayoade is a seasoned police officer, a strategist and crime fighter who has served the force meritoriously in various capacities.
“Prior to his recent elevation to the enviable rank of AIG, , he was the Commissioner of Police in-charge in Lagos State,” she said.
The image maker said the AIG solicited maximum support and cooperation of the good people of Lagos and Ogun.
According to her, Fayoade assures residents of a citizen-friendly, problem-solving, rule of law compliant and intelligence- based proactive policing in the zone.
