Netflix denies rumours of exit from Nigeria
Netflix has rejected claims that it plans to leave the Nigerian market, reaffirming its commitment to investing in the country’s local film industry.
The rumours began circulating after comments from prominent Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan at the 2024 Zuma International Film Festival.
Afolayan revealed that Netflix had recently cancelled several projects from unnamed filmmakers, which raised questions about the streaming giant’s long-term intentions in Nigeria.
“When we signed the three-film deal with Netflix three years ago, it was a moment of great excitement,” Afolayan said.
