NDPHC restores 800mw to power grid

The Niger Delta Power Hoiding Company (NDPHC), is sorting out knotty issues to facilitate re-injection of about 800 Megawatts, MW, of electricity into the national power grid.

This is expected to happen soon as part of the ongoing joint efforts of all industry stakeholders to restore supply to the grid and to Nigerians.

The Managing Director of NDPHC, Mr. Chiedu Ugbo, disclosed this on Monday in Lagos, during an interactive session with industry stakeholders and the media.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), at the critical meeting said the current available capacity in the national as of 5 a.m. on Monday was 3500MW.

On its part, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC said four million meters would be installed at customers residents under phase 1 of the National Mass Metering Programme, NMMP.

Sanusi Garba, Chairman of the Commission, said eight million metering gap currently exists in the industry and it is designed that all customers would be adequately metered.
