NDLEA vows to clamp down on illicit substances in FCT

Kabir Tsakuwa, the FCT Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has assured that the agency will continue to clamp down on all sources of illicit substances in the territory.

“The command has intensified raid of drug joints and has made several arrests,” he said.

Tsakuwa stated that the command and other security agencies have been engaging in joint operations to get rid of shanties, including black spots notorious for drug dealing in the FCT, and free the people from the activities of those into such illicit businesses.

According to him, the raids would continue until drug merchants were pushed out of business in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), saying that it was part of the agency’s strategic plan for drug supply and demand reduction in the area.

He added that there would be continuous intelligence gathering in collaboration with other security agencies.

He stated that the agency would create outposts within the territory for continuous pin-down operations, particularly at identified drug notorious areas like Wuse Zone 4, Area 1 Park, Torabora, Banex, Apo mechanic village, Gwarinpa, Jabi, Karu Abattoir.

According to him, a sensitisation programme targeting workplaces, schools, government agencies, mosques, churches and public places is also going on to sensitise people, especially youths, to the dangers of such substances.
