NDLEA processes convictions for 22 drug dealers in Kano

The Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) successfully convicted 22 drug dealers in July 2024, marking a significant milestone in their efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking and abuse. Commander Abubakar Idris-Ahmad disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday in Kano, highlighting the agency’s ongoing dedication to prosecuting offenders involved in drug-related crimes.

Among those convicted, Abubakar Mu’azu’s arrest was particularly notable for a dangerous altercation resulting in the stabbing of an NDLEA officer. Mu’azu was subsequently sentenced to three years in a correctional center, while other offenders received varying prison terms for their involvement in drug offenses. Commander Idris-Ahmad emphasized the agency’s unwavering commitment to enforcing the law against drug trafficking and abuse, thanking NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba-Marwa for his steadfast support.

He reiterated that NDLEA operatives, undeterred by intimidation or violence, are resolute in apprehending and bringing drug offenders to justice. Commander Idris-Ahmad urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drug-related activities to assist in the agency’s efforts.
