NDLEA demolishes 7 hectares of hemp farm arrests 3 in Kogi

On Wednesday, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) destroyed seven hectares of hemp farms and apprehended three suspects in Kogi.

NDLEA Kogi Commander, Alhaji Umar Yahuza, revealed in Lokoja that three hectares were located in Ikeja Forest, while the remaining four were in Maikeke Village within Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area.

During the operation, which occurred on August 9 and August 15, three suspects were arrested at Ikeja Forest, but the owner of the four-hectare farm managed to escape.

Yahuza stated that this successful operation was part of the agency’s week-long campaign against illicit drugs in the Kogi East region, which followed intelligence reports from the community.

The NDLEA is actively pursuing the escaped suspect and remains committed to combating drug abuse and trafficking in the state. The agency plans to thoroughly search Kogi to apprehend and prosecute traffickers and deter others from engaging in drug-related activities.

The commander also urged the public to support the NDLEA’s efforts in combating the consumption and trafficking of illicit drugs, which are negatively impacting many youths.
