NCC reveals plan to review Communications Act

In line with fast moving changes in the telecommunications sector, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has revealed that it is in the process of reviewing some of the provisions of the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003.

Speaking at the Stakeholders Forum on the draft information memorandum on 3.5Ghz spectrum auction held in Lagos, the Director of Legal and Regulatory services of the Commission, Josephine Amuwa said, “We recognize that the act is only 19 years and we recognize the changing dynamic nature of the sector.”

“The process of reviewing the act is however in process” She said.

The Executive Vice-Chairman of the NCC, Professor Umar Danbatta commented that while the process of reviewing the act is ongoing, the NCC from time to time will come up with subsidiary regulations to keep up with developments in the sector.
