NCAA activates air transport regulations portal to streamline regulatory processes

In response to calls for improved efficiency in aviation operations, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has launched its Directorate of Air Transport Regulation (DATR) Electronic Portal (E-Portal).

Officially unveiled this week at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja, the platform represents the agency’s commitment to innovation and operational effectiveness.

Acting Director-General, Capt. Chris Najomo, highlighted the portal’s potential to transform regulatory processes, stressing its alignment with international best practices. He described the Air Transport Regulations Portal as a crucial tool to raise operational standards within the aviation sector.

In his address, Capt. Najomo presented the E-Portal as a state-of-the-art, single-window system designed to streamline and optimise the operations of the Directorate of Air Transport Regulations. He emphasised that the platform aims to enhance service delivery by offering a seamless electronic interface for stakeholders.

He also referred to the initiative as a major milestone, marking the beginning of a new era in digital aviation processes that would be characterised by competence, innovation, and transparency.

Mrs. Olayinka Babaoye-Iriobe, Director of DATR, provided further details on the portal’s features, focusing on its ability to optimise processes, track data in real-time, centralise operations, and improve transparency.

She explained that these capabilities would revolutionise the regulatory landscape, ensuring greater efficiency and promoting collaboration within the aviation industry.

The portal reflects the NCAA’s commitment to remaining a forward-thinking regulator, enhancing stakeholder confidence and positioning Nigeria’s aviation sector to compete effectively on the global stage.

Industry leaders have widely praised the initiative. Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, stated, “This innovation underscores the NCAA’s dedication to improving the ease of doing business in aviation.”

Similarly, CEO of Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema, commended Capt. Najomo’s proactive leadership, remarking, “This initiative demonstrates the NCAA’s renewed commitment to transparency and adherence to global standards.”

The successful launch of the Air Transport Regulations Portal marks a significant achievement for the NCAA, reinforcing its reputation as a pioneer in regulatory innovation.

As the aviation sector continues to evolve, the NCAA remains focused on providing efficient, technology-driven solutions for its stakeholders. This development further confirms Nigeria’s readiness to meet global aviation standards while cultivating a business-friendly environment.
