Navy intercepts stolen crude Oil, arrests five suspects

The Nigerian Navy reports that troops from Forward Operating Base Lekki have apprehended five suspects linked to stolen crude oil found in a wooden boat.

This was revealed in a statement shared via social media handle on Tuesday,

The statement indicated that on Sunday, September 22, 2024, troops from Forward Operating Base Lekki, following credible intelligence, intercepted a wooden boat close to La Campagne Tropicana Beach in Ibeju Lekki.

“The boat was loaded with a significant, though unspecified, quantity of stolen crude oil.”

“Five individuals were apprehended during the operation and are now in custody for further investigation.”

“Preliminary investigations indicated that the product was transported from the Igbokoda area in Ondo State to the beach near La Campagne Tropicana Beach in Ibeju-Lekki for loading onto trucks,” the statement indicates.
