National Theatre gets 1st female PRO, pledges to redeem centre’s image

Ms Bunmi Jimoh, the newly appointed Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National Theatre, has promised to bring her experience to bear in the management’s vision of redeeming image of the performing arts centre.

Jimoh told our journalists on Monday in Lagos that she would live up to expectations, being the first female to occupy the position since the national monument was built in 1977.

“I know that my appointment calls for more commitment.

“I am going to come up with trendy publicity and marketing strategies to collaborate and make successful the viable vision of the new management.

“I will appreciate maximum cooperation of the general media by way of ensuring that only honest and balanced information about the National Theatre are disseminated to the public,” she said.

According to her, plans are underway by the government approved Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)/Bankers Committee Renovations Project of the National Theatre to upgrade the facilities for stage/music performances, film/cultural shows, art exhibitions, conferences, meetings and events.

Earlier, Mr Agbo Ita, Deputy Director (Human Resources), National Theatre Management, in a statement on behalf of Prof. Sunday Ododo, General Manager/Chief Executive Officer, on Monday, said the appointment of Jimoh took effect from Jan. 4.

“A new Public Relations Officer, Bunmi Jimoh, has been appointed for the National Theatre.

“She is, until her appointment, the Head, Media Unit of the National Theatre,” the statement said.

Jimoh joined the service of the National Theatre in 1992 and has risen through the ranks to her present position and took over from Mr Steph  Ogundele.

Ogundele has been redeployed to General Service’s office.
