As barely one week to the National Sports Festival christened Delta 2022, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has advised the state athletics to be good ambassadors of the state by winning laurels.
Uzodimma gave the advise on Monday when the organizers of the festival led by DCP Chioma Ajunwa brought the festival touch of unity and handed it over to the Governor at Government House, Owerri justifying the state participation for the national festival.
The Governor who assured that the state will participate actively during the festival described the essence of the programme as Federal Government strategic efforts in sustaining national integration and unity among the diverse ethnic groups.
He commended the state sports men and women for the feats they made last year during the festival hosted in Benin City and christened Edo 2020, even as he charged the athletes on the need to exceed the result.
Uzodimma pointed out that sports is inevitable for global limelights and rewards, enjoined the participants to be disciplined so as to achieve national and global recognition.
Earlier, Ajuoma who hold the touch of unity for the national sports festival said that they started the national tour since October 25th with President Muhammad Buhari flagging off the programmes for the sports festival’
The Olympiad reiterated that the Governor’s reception of the touch of unity is an indication that Imo State is ready for the national sports festival.
