National Museum Lagos records 32,369 visitors in H1 2024

The National Museum, Lagos, has seen a significant increase in visitors, with 32,369 people visiting in the first half of 2024, compared to 17,442 in the same period last year.

According to  Head of the Department of Educational Services and Training at the museum, Oloruntosin Olanrewaju, on Wednesday, this represents an appreciable increase.

“We have been able to attract a good number of tourists to the museum in the first half of the year; we had 32,369 visitors. We hope to surpass this figure in the second half of the year,” He said.

Olanrewaju noted that the visitors included foreigners, children, and adults of different age groups, and that the museum has seen an increase in pupils and students coming for educational purposes.

“We have more pupils and students coming from various schools to learn and complement what they have been taught. People also come for research purposes,” he said.

The museum official encouraged Nigerians, especially Lagos residents, to visit the museum, highlighting its cultural and historical significance.

“We urge people to visit the museum, which accommodates artefacts, antiquities, monoliths, and other materials with huge cultural and historical significance,” He said.
