National Cooperative Awards: Adereti bags Personality of the Year, National Patron of CRASON

A House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ife Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections, Engr. Benjamin Adereti was on Saturday awarded the Cooperative Personality of the Year and National Patron of CRASON in an event held at NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja by the Co-operative Rating and Award Society of Nigeria.

The Co-operative Rating and Awarded Society of Nigeria (CRASON) is a value-based Rating and Award Institution founded on the universal principles of cooperative and its ethical values to monitor, track, evaluate and report the economic performances and social impacts of Co-operative Societies with other initiatives geared to raise their profile to policymakers, researchers, manufacturers, development partners, governments and NGOs amongst all stakeholders.

Benjamin was found worthy of the awards due to his exemplary performances in both public and private practices as well as his intimidating credentials.

His Profile

Benjamin Kayode Adereti was born in Ile-Ife to the family of late Primate Joshua Adereti Adesiyan of Okoro and Agbedegbede compound in Ile-Ife and Lady Captain Florence Abeke Adereti Adesiyan. He grew up in a family with devotion in prayers and service to God.

He attended Plus Primary School, Uselu in Benin City, and St. Gabriel primary school, Moore in Ile Ife where he exhibited leadership traits among his peers before proceeding to the Prestigious Oduduwa College in Ile-Ife for his secondary education.

At Oduduwa College, he was constantly nominated as class captain and later became Senior Prefect of the school. He led the school debate and literary team and won exciting prizes for the school. He proceeded to the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife for his first degree.

He was an active member of the National Ife Descendant’s Student Association, where he served at both the local chapter as Financial Secretary and in various committees at the national level.

Benjamin served as the President of the National Association of Science and Technology Students (NASTES), OAU chapter, and won a keenly contested election at the Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi in 1999 as the National President of NASTES.

He organised the first TECNO-SCIENTIFIC exhibition at the Raw Material Research  and Development Council in Abuja where about sixty- six (66) higher institutions of learning participated.

OAU won as the best institution in the first edition of the Tecno Scientific Project led by Banjamin, and he was warmly welcomed back to the university by the then Vice-Chancellor, Rogers Makanjuola who was proud of the Great IFE team exploit at the competition while receiving the trophy.

Benjamin has won several awards across the country which included the Exemplary Leadership award at the Arewa House in Kaduna from the Arewa Youth, the Leadership Award from the University of Nigeria, NASTES chapter etc.

He also received a commendation from the then NUC chairman, Prof. Peter Okebukola, Minister of Education, Minister of State for Science and Technology, Mrs Pallen Taken, and the Honourable Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Turner Isoun for his exemplary performance.

Benjamin possesses an MBA, Business Administration from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, a Master’s of Technology degree in Communication Physics and a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Physics from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.Hons.) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Olabisi Onabanjo University, and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Physics/Electronics from the Nigeria Institute of Science Laboratory Technology, Ibadan.

He is ITIL and PMP certified from Washington DC in the United States of America and possesses a diploma from Alcatel University in Marcos, Paris.

He later became a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute if Science Laboratory Technology in 2013 at the University of Ilorin.

His Achievements

Benjamin is well-trained in various transmission technologies at Ericsson University in Chicago, INTELSAT space center in Fuchstadt, Germany, CISCO training in the United Kingdom and Ghana, and Huawei Training center in Abuja. He has hands-on experience in providing professional services in ensuring proper monitoring and managing enterprise services-related faults.

His hands-on experience span further on multi-vendor transmission multiplexers – Tellabs(DXX Nodes), Nokia (Alcatel 7750, DSLAMs and other aggregating nodes), Huawei OTN, SDH, IP nodes, high capacity transmission systems – DWDM, OTN, SDH, IP, Coherent technologies, good knowledge of carrier network solutions, IP/MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, EGFP, Enterprise WLAN Solutions, Fiber optics, Satellite transmission systems, and GSM system infrastructures.

Benjamin served as Employee Representative in MTN.

He worked as Personal Assistant to the late Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Science and Technology, National Assembly in Abuja, where he contributed immensely to the passage of the ACT that established NISLT.

He currently works as National Manager, Managing Data Services in the Network Services Management Centre (NSMC) of MTN Communications Nigeria PLC where he leads several teams in the Managed Data Network Services.

Benjamin Kayode ADERETI is a family man. He is married to Princess Adebukola Adereti, daughter of Oba Jacob Adebiyi, The ALARE of AREE Ekiti in Ekiti State. He is a father of four lovely children. He is friendly, hardworking, and a proud Ife son.

He was elected as the General Secretary of MTN Multipurpose Cooperative Society in Nigeria in 2012 and 2016 respectively and later elected as the National President in 2018 and 2020.

Benjamin judiciously managed over 10billion naira of cooperative funds with consistent audit and transparently accountable in compliance with extant cooperative laws. He actively participated in most cooperative activities at local, state, national and international levels.

He has contributed immensely to the development of society and Ife in particular through capacity building for the youths and scholarships.

Benjamin Kayode Adereti is an APC candidate for House of Representatives (Ife Federal Constituency) in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
