The National Convention of All Progressives Party (APC) has further shown the resolve of the Party to remain in power beyond 2023 as the party’s consensus produced goal-getters and experienced bridge-builders to lead the party into victory during the forthcoming general elections.
Despite all the internal wranglings that had thrown the party into turmoil as well as leadership tussle that preceded the Convention, President Muhammadu Buhari had insisted that the party must adopt Consensus to produce those who would manage the affairs in the run up to the 2023 elections.
The former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Senator Iyiola Omisore as the substantive National Chairman and National Secretary of APC, as well as other key National Working Committee (NWC) members have emerged through consensus at the convention organized by the party in Abuja on Saturday and early hours of Sunday.
Party members and analysts who have been monitoring the events as it unfolded believed the decision to opt for the newly sworn-in National Working Committee led by Senator Abdullahi Adamu through consensus was due to their experiences and leadership styles.
They noted that the decision would not only ensure the party remained united, but also win the 2023 general elections for the party.
Adamu’s emergence roadmap to party’s unity, harmony — Rotimi Amaechi
While speaking on the matter on Sunday, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi said that the consensus National Chairman of APC, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, would be a great chairman.
Amaechi, while expressing satisfaction with the emergence of Adamu, described the newly sworn-in APC National Chairman as a bridge builder.
“He will be a great chairman because he is a bridge builder.
“We are satisfied with his emergence as National Chairman because he will bring his wealth of experience to the party’s advancement,” he said.
Amaechi added that Adamu’s chairmanship is a roadmap to the party’s unity and harmony.
According to him, his chairmanship will be an all-inclusive one because of his love for the party.
Amaechi, however, solicited support of all for the new national leadership of the party to properly position the party for giant strides.
New Chairman a focused politician, not push-over — Rochas Okorocha
A two-time Governor of Imo State, Sen. Rochas Okorocha affirmed that the emergence of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu as the Chairman of the party would bring about reconciliation with many aggrieved members of the party, noting the new Chairman “is focused” and not a “push-over.”
Rochas Okorocha made this known while appearing on Channels Television’s programme, Sunday Politics yesterday.
The two-time Governor of Imo state said his interaction with him “at the senate shows that he is a focused gentleman; a man who insists in what he believes in. He is the one that speaks what is in his mind.
He added that, “I don’t know him to be this cunny personality. He says it the way it is and I think that is the kind of leadership APC needs at this time.
“I think he possesses the quality of a great leader. I believe he can weather the storm concerning the party.”
He, however, advised the Newly sworn-in NWC to hit the ground running in reconciling aggrieved members of the party, noting that “many people did not come for the convention because they are aggrieved.”
The Governor further appealed “to those who still feel aggrieved to see this as a window of opportunity to reconcile and move on.
“I advise those who find joy in the failure of others to make a retreat because life is not just about winning, sometimes it about accommodating.
“I believe Adamu will do the necessary things I believe strongly that he can reposition the party.”
Speaking with our Correspondents yesterday, the former Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogun State, Hon. Tunde Oladujoye described the newly elected Chairman of APC, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu as a very prepared politician for the job.
Hon. Oladujoye said, “It’s like Sen. Abdullahi Adamu is prepared for the task ahead, remember that he was the Chairman of our party reconciliation committee.
“He will surely deliver an overwhelming victory for our party come 2023. I can only urge our people, the party members to rally support for the new Chairman. He surely needs the cooperation of all of us to succeed.”
Omisore, new NWC members right peg, in right hole — Ayoola
Similarly, a chieftain of the party in the state, Prince Adekunle Adebayo Ayoola has said Senator Iyiola Omisore as National Secretary as well as other members of the National working Committee (NWC) is a right peg in the right hole.
While congratulating the newly elected National Chairman of the party, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, he described him as a politician with well oiled party administration experience and who has all it takes to reposition the ruling party ahead of 2023 elections.
Prince Ayoola said the major task ahead of Sen Adamu leadership would be to ensure genuine reconciliation and unity of the party members across the nation, saying that no stone should be left unturned while no sacrifice should be considered too big to make the party more formidable and continue governance beyond 2023.
He described the former two-term governor of Nasarawa State as an highly successful, conscientious and dutiful politician who has all it takes to manage all the diverse interests in the party for another overwhelming victory during 2023 elections.
Ayoola said, “I must congratulate our newly elected National Chairman, Sen Abdullahi Adamu, a two-term governor and currently, a sitting Senator representing Nasarawa West.
“He is a seasoned politician and truly possesses the capability to steer the party to path of greater heights and victory even as 2023 general elections approach.”
He added that, “What is only needed for the Sen Abdullahi Adamu led executives to succeed is massive support and cooperation of other members of the party across the country. It is on this note that I am urging other members of the party to please support this new leadership of the party to make a success of the onerous tasks ahead.”
While reacting to the emergence of Senator Iyiola Omisore as the Party’s National Secretary, Ayoola disclosed further that, “The election of Sen. Iyiola Omisore as the National Secretary of the party is a good step towards the right direction.
“He was once a Deputy Governor and Senator. Party politics is not strange to him. He is well exposed and a very popular politician that cuts across.
“I think he is equally a round peg in a round hole and I am confident that he will, together with our new Chairman, lift the party to higher heights.”
