Nation Building: Nasarawa Govt re-affirms commitment to youth empowerment
The Nasarawa State Government has renewed its commitment to youth empowerment aimed at curbing youth restiveness in the state.
Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, the Deputy Governor of the state said the current administration cannot afford to neglect the future of the youths in the state.
Akabe stated this during a two-day leadership retreat and inauguration of the State, Local government and development areas officials of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Akwanga on Tuesday.
This, he said, was why the State Government would continue to initiate good policies and programmes that would improve on the standard of living of the youths.
He said that Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s administration was commitment to youth empowerment for the overall development of the state.
The Deputy Governor appreciated the youths for giving their maximum support to Sule’s adminisitration to succeed beyond 2003 and called for its sustenance.
“The State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule, is committed to youths development.
“We will continue to empower the youths to enable them become self- reliant and contribute their quota positively to the development of the state and the country at large,” he said.
Akabe urged them to be exemplary in their leadership in the interest of peace and for the overall development of the state.
He also urged the youths to remain peaceful at all the times for development to thrive.
The Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Council of the state, Mr Safiyanu Isah, also appreciated the youths for supporting Sule’s policies and programmes to succeed.
Isah urged the officials of the council to live above board, while discharging their duties.
Earlier, Mr Jafar Loko, the Chairman, NYCN, Nasarawa State chapter, said that the leadership training was to expose participants to the rudiments of the council’s activities and business of governance.
He said that the retreat was also to give orientation to the newly elected local chapter officials of the council.
