NASU EACOED protests over non inclusion of NASU in College Government Council

The Non- Academic Staff Union, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education has called on the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde over the failure to include the Non Teaching Staff Representative in the College Governing council.
The Chairman, Mr Adeshina Michael made this known while leading a peaceful protest within the premises of the school.
“Let me start my speech by giving you an insight into our agitations and actions we have taken so far in the pursuit of our right. Inclusion of Non Teaching Staff Representative in the College Governing Council: NASU, as a Union considered the provision of the college edict that provides for two (2) representatives of academic staff in the College Governing Council composition and no representative for the non teaching staff as injustice, whereas in other tertiary institutions in the state both categories or staff are duly represented in the Governing Council of their respected institution.
Also, Defrayment of Promotion Arrears (110 months), It is saddened and discouraging to members of staff who have been discharging their duties as expected, very dedicated to their work and as well satisfied all the stipulated requirements for promotion to the next level only promoted notionally while financial effect of such promotions are delayed.
For the avoidance of doubt promotions arrears of statf of the college are stated; 2011 promotion – 3 months, 2014 promotion – 5 months, 2015 promotion -2 months, 2016 promotion -25 months, 2017 promotion -27months, 2018 promotion -27 months, 2019 promotion -15 months, 2020 promotion -6 months.”
Adeshina added that the union is also defray of 51 months arrears of Annual increment of staff and payment of driver’s non accident bonus for the year 2020 as well as their overtime.
Other agitations of the Union are defrayment of s months arrears of Annual increment of staff and payment of driver’s non accident bonus for the year 2020 as well as their overtime. Consequent upon the above agitations, several meetings were held with the college Governing Council and the Management but to no avail, as all what the College could offer is promise to pay 2 months out of 51 months annual increment when the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the College improves leaving the 110 months promotion arrears unattended to on the claim that the college is not financially buoyant. The union however rejected the offer.
Arising from the foregoing, the congress of the Union was conveyed to consider the situation and review its 7 days warning strike earlier embarked upon, congress resolved to give the college another 14 working days ultimatum to address all its agitations failing which the Union embarked upon a total strike action when the ultimatum issued expired on February 1st, 2021
He concluded that the association appreciate the workers friendly posture and prompt payment of salary by the led administration of Engr Seyi Makinde.
“At this juncture, I want to reiterate the fact that members of NASU EACOED chapter appreciate the workers friendly posture and the prompt payment of salary by His Excellency, Engineer Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo state, we are however constraint to stage this protest with sole aim ot bringing our sufferings and agitations to the hearing or our loving and listening governor
