NASENI EVC Haliru vows to boost Nigeria’s economy

The newly appointed Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has vowed to utilize Science, Technology and Innovation, STI, to serve Nigerians and add value to the economy.

He disclosed this upon resumption of office on Monday in a statement by NASENI’s Director of Information and Protocol, Olusegun Ayeoyenikan.

He said NASENI will harness its potential through the domestication of cutting-edge technologies to achieve the eight-point economic priority of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.

“The focus is for innovation, science and technology resources to serve Nigerians and to add value to the national economy.

“We shall adopt, adapt and domesticate cutting-edge technologies wherever we find them. We will build a pool of well-educated and talented personnel, support world-class research and development (R&Ds), and build partnerships and collaborations across Nigeria, Africa and the world,” he said.

Barely five days ago, Haliru was appointed to replace Dr. Bashir Gwandu as the EVC of NASENI.

Newsmen recalls that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, during the inaugural meeting of the Federal Executive Council, unveiled Tinubu’s eight priority agenda, including food security, ending poverty; economic growth and job creation; access to capital; improving security; improving the playing field on which people and particularly companies operate; rule of law; and fighting corruption.
