The Nasarawa State Government has expressed readiness to partner the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCos) in the state to enhance its service delivery.
Mr Dogo Shammah, the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, said this when the Controller of NCoS in the state, Alhaji Aliyu Yahuza, paid a courtesy visit to his office on Tuesday in Lafia.
Shammah said the state government attached much value to security of lives and property and would spare no effort in supporting all security outfits in the state to perform effectively.
He assured the Controller of his Ministry’s support in the area of information dissemination, among others, to project their activities in the state.
“I want to thank you for recognising the role of the media, especially as it concern information dissemination.
“As a media professional, who had been in the field, I believe information is power.
“Whoever indicates interest to partner with us, we are ever ready, the door of the Ministry is widely open to partner with you,” he said.
Earlier, Yahuza said they were in the Ministry to sought for support and partnership in the area of information dissemination to enable people know more about the activities of the command.
Yahuza noted that information dissemination was a factor to reckon with in any organisation.
According to him, there is the need for the people to know more about the operations of NCoS in order to engender more support and collaboration.
” It is necessary for us to come out to let the world know what we are doing, what is expected of us and what our shortcomings are.
“With this, people can come in and assist us when the need arises,” he said.
The Controller disclosed that the Command was working towards achieving non – custodial measures, which include Parole, Probation, Restorative Justice and Community service.
