The Nasarawa State government has reiterated its commitment to improving the standard of education in the state, given its importance to societal development.
This, government said, was evident in its various educational policies and programmes in the state.
The Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Fatu Sabo, stated this at the end of one-year intensive training on Qur’anic memorisation for students of Marhum International Academy, Keffi, on Tuesday.
Sabo, who said that the Gov. Abdullahi Sule-led administration had prioritised education in order to tackle street begging, solicited for the prayers and support of the people of the state for the governor.
“I want to commend the founder of this school, whose establishment is in line with the policy direction of the state government.
“The state government has invested so much in the education sector in order to tackle street begging, considering the importance of education to societal development,” she said.
The commissioner urged the students to use the knowledge gained for themselves and the overall development of the society.
She had assured of government’s continued readiness to continue working towards improving the standard of education in the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Lafia Local Government council, Mr Aminu Muazu, urged Muslims to make Qur’an their dailies companion for better life style.
He also urged parents to continue to give topmost priority to the education of their children for societal development.
Earlier, the Proprietor of the school, Dr Hauwa’u Mainoma, lauded the commitment of the students and urged them to put into use what they had learnt during the training.
She restated her continued commitment to the provision of an enabling environment for teaching and learning, for the overall development of the state and the country.
