Nasarawa Assembly commits to synergy with Executive, Judiciary
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has restated its commitment to enhance synergy with the Executive and Judicial arms of government in order to fast track development in the state.
Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House, stated this while attending to five Bills during the House proceedings on Wednesday in Lafia.
The Speaker noted that effective partnership amongst the three arms of government in the state was responsible for the laudable achievements recorded by Gov. Abdullahi Sule, hence the need to improve on that.
He said that the legislature would continue to give executive and other bills all the necessary support to ensure their speedy passage for the overall development of the state.
Abdullahi at plenary announced the passage into second reading a Bill for a Law to Repeal the Nasarawa State Bureau of Statistics Law No.84 of 2012 and Re-Enact Same 2022 and Other Matters Related Thereto.
The Speaker said that the Bill was all about collecting qualitative data which would help the state government in planning purposes for development.
He therefore committed the Bill to the House standing Committees on Public Account and that of Finance and Appropriation to work on it and report backe on May 30.
Alhaji Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the Bill to scale second reading.
The Minority Leader,Mr Abel Bala seconded the motion. The House unanimously passed the Bill into second reading.
The House during the Wednesday’s sitting also received the report of the House Committee on Water Resources and Rural Development on a Bill For a Law to Provide For the Supply and Sanitation of Water in Nasarawa State and other Matters Connected Therewith.
The report was presented by Mr Luka Zhekaba, the Vice Chairman of the committee.
The Speaker slated May 30 for the deliberation of the report.
Similarly, the House received the report of the House Committee on Judiciary, Ethics and Privileges on a Bill For a Law to Amend Nasarawa State Customary Courts Law and Other Matters Connected Therewith, which was presentrd by Mr John Osewu, the Chairman of the committee.
The Speaker further fixed May 30 for the deliberation of the report.
Similarly, the House received the report of the Ad-hoc Committee on a Bill For A Law to Repeal and Re-Enact the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Service Commission Law and Other Related Matters.
Alhai Tanko Tunga, the Chairman of the committee, presented the report.
The Speaker also slated May 30 for the deliberation of the report.
Again, the House fixed May 30 for third reading on a Bill For a Law for the Establishment of the Nasarawa State College of Education, Akwanga, and Other Matters Connected Thereto.
The Speaker slated the date after the House deliberated on the report of its Committee on Education, Science and Technology, on a Bill for a Law For the Establishment of the Nasarawa State College of Education, Akwanga, and Other Matters Connected Thereto.
