NAPPS backs closure of unapproved schools in Benue

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Benue state chapter, has endorsed the decision of the Benue State Education Quality Assurance (BEQA) to close down unapproved and substandard schools in the state.

This was made known during a courtesy visit by the NAPPS executive members to congratulate Dr. Terna Francis, Director General of BEQA, on his achievements in office.

NAPPS Chairman, Mr. Ojo Sunday Ada, highlighted several challenges faced by the association, including the need for a joint meeting with both private and public schools to resolve the issue of WAEC de-recognition that affected some schools.

Dr. Terna Francis assured the association of attending to the issues accordingly and emphasised the importance of mutual support within the association.

The Director General also announced that the certificate of consent, which serves as the official school approval, is ready for collection and has security features that cannot be duplicated.

He warned that students transferring from one school to another must present a unified transfer certificate issued by BEQA only.

The NAPPS Chairman commended Dr. Terna for his efforts in ensuring that schools in the state meet the required standards.

The visit was seen as a show of support for BEQA’s efforts to sanitise the education sector in Benue state.
