The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has won Nestle Nigeria Plc’s “The Most Supportive Media Partner of the Year 2020 Award.”
The award was presented by a veteran journalist and broadcaster, Sunny Irabor, on Friday in Lagos at the company’s end of year “Media Engagement’’ and Nestle Nigeria Plc 2020 Media Award for partners that worked with it.
A Deputy Editor-in-Chief in NAN, Mr Olatoye Olagoke, won the Runner-Up in Advancing Nutrition, Health and Wellness Programme Award in the individual category.
The event was an interactive session between members of the media and Nestlé Nigeria to review activities and mark the end of the year.
Mrs Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Nestle Nigeria Plc, said the company found NAN as a worthy partner that deserves lots of accolade.
“This is also a period to reward all media partners that had contributed immensely to the development of news gathering as well as publishing and showcasing the company’s projects in 2020.
“The media is key in reporting any project or plan of action which can affect behaviour or perception and provide the right fact-based information to the public.
“For the right mentality and the right attitude to do a justifiable work, the media needs to be well equipped through training.
“Also, we encourage excellence and reward as well as appreciate those that have added value to the various work output of Nestle Nigeria.
“We are proud to recognise NAN out of the various news companies that have done well, being of interest to the general public and critically using its platform to promote what we do at Nestlé,’’ Uwadoka said.
She commended the efforts of the management of NAN, Mr Peter Damian Ejiofor, a Deputy Editor-In-Chief, Vivian Ihechu, Senior Editor, and others who had contributed to the reportage of Nestle’s activities.
Uwadoka, however, advised media personnel to be dedicated, thorough and be entrenched in the ethics of the profession as well as being knowledgeable in the activities of the company, especially its Creating Shared Value (CSV).
She shared the company’s work plans for 2021 while reiterating that the company was committed to individuals and families.
Uwadoka expressed optimism in ensuring that the SDGs were met, especially those on nutrition, health and wellness as well as food security, climate and environment.
