Namadi approves N10,000 wage award for Jigawa workers

Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa has approved payment of N10,000 wage award to civil servants in the state.

This is contained in a statement by the state Head of Civil Service (HoS), Alhaji Muhammad Dagaceri, on Monday in Dutse.

Dagaceri said the State Executive Council (SEC) had approved immediate payment of the wage award to the workers for three months, adding that the gesture was to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.

According to him, the decision is in line with the current realities in the country, and commitment of the state government towards improving the wellbeing of the people.

“The governor has approved the immediate release of N20,000 for each public servant cash palliative for the month of January and February 2024, respectively.

“The civil servants will start receiving alert of the two months cash palliative from today Monday, the 4th of March, as directed by the governor.

“And also by the end of this month the government will pay the remaining one month of March,” he said.

He also announced plans by the government to distribute food palliatives to the workers, adding that a committee had been constituted to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise.

“Very soon government will work out measures to ease transportation difficulties to the civil servants”.

On Worker Agricultural Support Scheme (JWASS), Dagaceri said that fertilisers and inputs would be distributed to the civil servants at subsidised rate.

While commending Namadi for his favorable disposition to the worker’s welfare, Dagaceri urged the workers to dedicate themselves to duty.
