NAFDAC seizes N12m worth of unsafe aphrodisiac products in Sokoto

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intercepted aphrodisiac products and sex enhancement drugs valued at N12 million. Mr. Garba Adamu, the NAFDAC Coordinator in the state, disclosed that the seizures were made during routine patrols across Sokoto and its environs.
Adamu explained that these products, adorned with pornographic images, were unregistered and contained hazardous ingredients, posing significant health risks.
He urged the public to avoid purchasing such items from unlicensed vendors, emphasising the importance of patronising only registered and safe products from authorised outlets.
The coordinator also urged citizens to report any illegal sales or adverse reactions from consuming such products to NAFDAC. He cautioned traders against selling counterfeit, adulterated, expired, or unregistered goods, emphasising NAFDAC’s commitment to continuous enforcement efforts.aa
Additionally, Adamu noted that NAFDAC’s operations extended to agrochemicals and cosmetics stores, aiming to ensure only high-quality and legitimate products are available in the market.
He encouraged Nigerians to verify NAFDAC registration and check manufacturing and expiry dates before using any products.
Adamu acknowledged the support of sister agencies, law enforcement, traders’ associations, and the public in NAFDAC’s efforts to safeguard public health.
