NAF airstrikes destroy Boko Haram enclaves in Borno
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported the destruction of Boko Haram hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa, Borno State, following a precision airstrike that dealt a significant blow to the terrorist group.
Acting on credible intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance data, the NAF identified key insurgent strongholds within the rugged terrain of the Mandara Mountains, where notorious terrorist leader Ali Ngulde and his fighters were believed to be holding a strategic meeting.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, confirmed that reconnaissance operations had detected a heavily fortified command centre equipped with solar-powered installations, prompting the military to execute a surprise nighttime assault.
The statement read, “Demonstrating advanced aerial capabilities, the NAF conducted a high-precision nocturnal airstrike on 16 March 2025, targeting terrorist hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa. The operation severely weakened the insurgents’ stronghold and disrupted their activities.
“Intelligence and surveillance data confirmed that Ali Ngulde and his fighters had assembled at the location for a high-level meeting. Further analysis revealed a heavily reinforced base at Degbewa, complete with solar-powered structures, indicating a well-established command hub. Acting on this intelligence, the NAF launched a surprise night raid, achieving total tactical advantage.”
Ali stated that the operation resulted in the destruction of key logistical and operational structures, triggering widespread fires and neutralising numerous terrorists.
“The success of this mission reinforces the NAF’s growing dominance in both daytime and nighttime combat operations. Insurgents can no longer rely on the cover of darkness to evade security forces. Through sustained precision strikes and continuous aerial campaigns, the NAF remains resolute in its mission to dismantle terrorist networks and restore enduring peace to the region,” he added.
