N6bn BENGIS will be ready for commissioning by October  — Lands Commissioner

The six billion naira project of Benue State Geographic Information Service (BENGIS) would be ready for commissioning by October 2022.

The State Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals, Mr Bernard Unenge made the disclosure while briefing journalists about the activities of Ministry at its headquarters  in Makurdi stated that the project was over 70 percent completion.

The Commissioner explained that the building roofing has been completed adding that the electrical works was also 80 percent completed.

He further stated  that fixing of windows, ceiling and tiling would also be completed in two weeks time.

Unenge also revealed that since the beginning of the project in October 2020 the ministry  have processed over 3000 Certificates of Occupancy  signed by the Executive Governor of Benue State respectively.

He stated that the importance of BENGIS innovation was in relation to the commencement of implementation of the Land Use Designation order of 1996.

He maintained that the law was an Act of Parliament which empowers State Governments to control land  within her jurisdiction as well as improve revenue generation at the third tier of Government.
