By Matthew Denis

In light of the recent hardship and cash crunch occasioned on Nigerians by the removal of fuel subsidy, the President of Nigerian Workers Group (NWG), Dr. David Kayode Ehindero has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to establish a Special Purpose Fund for the money realized from the subsidy removal.

Recall that the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele kyari had said that with the Fuel subsidy removal the federal government can save a whopping sum of N40 billions Naira on monthly basis.

In a statement signed by the President of the group in Abuja, Dr Ehindero said, “Nigerian Workers Group (NWG) representing the interests of hardworking Nigerian employees across various sectors, is urging the Nigerian Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to establish a special purpose fund project for the administration of the monthly savings resulting from the removal of subsidies.

According to Ehindero, “the association NWG believes that such a fund would ensure transparency, probity, and the proper allocation of funds for the benefit of the Nigerian people.”
