N19m food items donated to flood victims in Jigawa South Zone

The member representing Birnin Kudu Buji Federal Constituency in the  National Assembly, Engr. Magaji Da’u Aliyu  has donated food items and other relief materials worth over N19 million to the flood victims in his constituency.

It has been confirmed that  over 100,000 people were displaced by flood across the 27 local government areas of Jigawa state.

While distributing  the relief materials, Hon. Magaji sympathized with victims and urged them to accept such  disaster as an act of God.

He described the situation as a  natural calamity that would have effect on the flood victims, noting that the victims would be in dare need of assistance

He explained that the gesture was part of his responsibilities  as member representing them, adding that it was their right and his moral responsibility to do so in complementing government efforts in providing relief materials to them.

Magaji presented the relief materials to the nine district heads in the constituency for onward distribution to the victims in their areas for proximity sake.

The materials distributed to the victims  included 800 bags of 120kg maize, cooking oil, rice, roofing sheets, nails and other items.

He then called on the beneficiaries to use the materials given to them, adding that the materials given to them was to reduce  the hardship that they were facing, but not to compensate their loss.

He therefore prayed to Almighty Allah to grant eternal rest to over 130 people who lost their lives in the flood disaster and also to prevent future occurrence.
