By Titus Atondu, Makurdi

The Benue State Commissioner for Lands and Solid Minerals Hon. Bernard Unenge KSM has disclosed that his wife was kidnapped between  NNPC MEGA filling Station and Commissioner’s Quarters Makurdi.

Unenge made the disclosure on Sunday while interacting with journalists who were in his Makurdi residence in their numbers to sympathize with him over the saddening kidnap incident that befell his wife, while maintaining that the information was made available to him by his rescued wife.

The Commissioner also revealed that no ransom was paid to the kidnappers, though negotiation was in the process, but that with the prompt and professional intervention of  the security operatives, zero ransom was recorded.

He commended the efforts of his principal the Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom, who, on receiving the report that his wife was kidnapped summoned an emergency security council meeting with the charge to the security agencies that his kidnapped wife be rescued without delay.

He appreciated the Governor for exhibiting high level of uncommon leadership posture that has paved way for the rescued of his wife from the hands of Kidnappers.

“As you know Benue State was dedicated to God by Governor Ortom which is the result of what has happened,” he stated.

Unenge appreciated the security for professionalism and the manner in which they overpowered the kidnappers by killing three and rescuing his wife unhurt.

He called on the security agencies in the State not to relent on their oars to fight crime by ensuring that crime is fought and eliminated  in the State to zero level.

He commended his friends from the Media for their endless prayers regarding the rescue of his wife and finding time out of their tight schedules to come and identity with him in sorrowful moment.

In a vote of thanks, Elder brother to the Commissioner and Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Hon. Godwin Domko, told the Commissioner to be consoled in the fact that he is a Christian to the core and be mindful of the fact that everything that has happened is by  the consent of God.

Hon. Donko advised the Commissioner not to be weighed down by the incident and remain focused and committed to serving God.

“No matter the storm, you should not relent from your tireless struggle and selfless service to humanity, God will always be on your side.”
